Megan Higle
MM Choral Conducting
Megan Higle has been involved in teaching music since 1999. Megan earned a Bachelor of Music: Vocal Performance summa cum laude from Marygrove College (Detroit) and a Master of Music: Choral Conducting from Oakland University.
She is currently the Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church of Lansing and the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Lansing Children’s Choir.  Megan, since 2017, has been the Artistic Director of the DeWitt Community Singers. She also teaches general music (K-6) at Montessori Children’s House of Lansing. Megan was recently appointed to the Mayor’s Arts and Culture Commission for the City of Lansing, where they are developing ways for children to create art in a Post COVID community and offer recommendations to the Lansing Public School District for all students in this interesting time. She was the Music Director for Project DayDream (Birmingham) and adjunct Faculty at Marygrove College where she taught courses in Ear Training, Music Technology, World Music and Music Appreciation. She was also an instructor for the Institute of Music and Dance while at Marygrove teaching voice class, vocal coaching and piano to school age youth in the city of Detroit. Â
Megan was the Assistant Conductor of the Oakland Chorale, Oakland University Chorus and Oakland Symphony Chorus under the direction of Dr. Michael A. Mitchell and served as Special Lecturer for the Oakland University Chorus while Dr. Mitchell was on sabbatical. She worked under Suzanne Mallare Acton (Rackham Symphony Choir) as her conducting intern for two years.Â
Her positive energy and love of choral music has enabled her to be an active choral clinician for middle school and high school choirs in the state. She is an active member of The American Choral Directors Association and serves as the Repertory and Resources Chair for Children and Community Youth Choirs for Michigan. She is also a member of The Michigan School Vocal Music Association, Chorus America and Music Teachers National Association. Â
